What do I do if my child wants to give up dancing?
Irish dancing takes years to master. It is an excellent form of exercise. As children advance it is sometimes easier to give up on hard work than to work through it. Don’t let your child give up so easily, especially after they have committed years to their dance class up to this. Exercise and keeping the heart and brain fit and healthy is now even more important as the years move on. It is beautiful to watch your child’s dance form unfold in front of your eyes. Make a deal with them that you would like them to continue to the end of the year or until they are a certain age. Also maybe there is an option to cut back on a class rather than give it all up altogether. See how it goes from there.
If your child is a beginner trying Irish dance for the first time. Encourage or even insist that you would like them to take a few terms. Our class is a very active fun class. Children are kept going for the complete hour. This is a powerful exercise class which all children need these days and extremely good for the heart.
Sometimes parents can be devastated when their children give up dancing. A dance organisation can be a big part of their lives. Over the years great friendships are formed with teachers and other parents. All parents are always welcome to stay in touch and call in anytime to visit.
